After you are approved, take a class and login and upload your class certificates.

New applicants need 16 hours of training that includes going to the range and shooting every gun unlisted on your permit (California Penal Code 26165).

Renewal Applicants

Renewal applicants can not start the renewal process until 30 or less days prior to the expiration of your CCW but the class certificate is good for 6 months. Somewhere around 4 months prior to when your permit expires take a class. This gives you time to take the class without rushing. As soon as you are 30 or less days before your CCW expires, go online and fill out the application.

Starting November 2025 Fresno County is increasing their CCW fees for initial and renewal. Also, they are extending the renewal period from 30 days prior to your expiration date to 60 days prior to your expiration date. They have a 90 day grace period for expired permits but that is to when they issue the permit. Keep in mind that the 90 days includes the processing time so real world time may be less than 90 days. They also want the class certificates to not be older than 120 days.

Renewal applicants need 8 hours of instruction that includes shooting every gun listed on your permit (California Penal Code 26165).
